The Garden City Varsity Baseball team is making a strong statement this spring, sitting firmly in first place with a 10-2 overall record and an impressive 8-1 mark in conference play. With series wins over South Side, Carey, and Roslyn, the Trojans have positioned themselves as the team to beat in the league.
On the mound, Joe Carey has been electric, highlighted by a perfect game against Roslyn—a rare and remarkable feat that showcases the senior’s command and poise. Chris Desiderio has also been dominant, providing consistency and power as a reliable arm in the rotation.
Offensively, the team is producing at a high level. Evan Cabral, a 2024 Diamond Award finalist, has picked up right where he left off, batting over .300 with 5 home runs already this season. His leadership at the plate and in the dugout has helped spark a lineup that continues to deliver timely hits and quality at-bats.
As the team continues its three-game set against New Hyde Park, the focus remains on execution and maintaining momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. With strong pitching, clutch hitting, and team chemistry fueling their success, the Trojans are poised for a championship run.
Go Trojans!
